In 2015 I was forced to take early retirement through ill-health and in the following year I began to isolate myself as I lost my feeling of self-worth. I met Karen and Claire at Bowfest 2016 where they were promoting and raising funds for the MS Centre.
Karen told my daughter and myself that they were looking for volunteers and my daughter immediately said that I would do it. I forced myself to come out the following Monday and immediately felt welcome. I trained in operating the hyperbaric chamber.
The Centre has been so supportive to me and anyone else who comes in through the doors. I have made a few good friends who all support each other and the staff are brilliant. I still have times I have trouble coming out but it is not like it was before.
